New York Favorites

While spending my freshman year at New York University, I spent a significant amount of time indulging in many restaurants as New York City earned a special place in my heart. I picked out several of my favorites to revisit over the years. It is arguable that New York City has the best food in the world. Here is a short list of my favorite places to stop for breakfast, quick bites, and coffee.

Oatmeals New York

120 W 3rd St, New York, NY 10012

My all time favorite restaurant, that was just down the street from my shoe box dorm, and sat on the edge of Washington square park was Oatmeals. This restaurant is exactly what it sounds like, a restaurant entirely for oatmeal. Located in the village, right off Mcdougal streat, grabbing a mama bear (medium) sized bowl of hot oats and sitting on the fountain in Washington Square Park, gazing up and down town is one of the wonderful breakfast spots in the city. Imagine a frozen yogurt shop for breakfast, that is Oatmeals. They have every topping and combination you could possibly imagine, not to mention really great coffee. My go to Oatmeals order is a mama bear bowl with steal cut oats, pumpkin pure, cinnamon, nutmeg, almond butter, almonds, bacon bits (if I’m feeling extra fun), and honey. I highly recommend stopping here and eating if you’re in the mood for a cozy breakfast.

Tulo House NYC’s First Fresh Nut Milk Bar

217 Mulberry St., New York, N.Y. 10012

Tulo House Milk is one of my more recent discoveries which is located in Nolita. It is a specialty store created for their house made milks and is adorably decorated. They have milks made daily, and make coffee and teas to your exact specifications. My favorite is a chai latte with cinnamon vanilla cashew milk. I would recommend stopping in for a coffee and a quick bite of one of their healthy snacks.

Hu Kitchen

78 5th Ave, New York, NY 10011

Hu Kitchen is truly one of a kind. It is a paleo based kitchen which has truly one of the best iced lattes I have ever had. With house made coconut milk and espresso it is beyond delicious. As a coffee fiend this is a true compliment. They also have one of my favorite New York specialties which is a healthy, a paleo bagel. Those who know me know I don’t often or maybe ever eat bagels, and while it may sound odd the Sesame Seed bagel toasted with chive cashew cream cheese is my newest obsession. They have all sorts of paleo baked goods made with unrefined sugars, flours, and grains. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, and I highly recommend. Located right off 5th avenue close to Union Square you can’t miss it.

Yes this is a terrible front camera photo of me and my favorite smoothie (it’s all I had)

Juice Press New York

Juice Press. While Juice Press shops are located throughout the city, it is one of my favorite smoothie shops out there. I am obsessed with the blue magic smoothie, not only because its beautiful, but because it is addicting. They also have incredible broth and snacks. My go to stop for a quick pick me up I highly recommend.
