Podcasts that (probably) won’t scare you

In the age of true crime podcasts, it seems like all you can be is scared. Whether it’s listening to the news or true crime, scary things are all around us. So, here are the podcasts I listen to while I do my mundane tasks. They are good entertainment that won’t make you afraid to be home alone and usually smile to your self.

Your Mom and Dad Podcast: Formerly Chatty Broads, an adorably honest married couple recap reality TV. Including the Bachelor and Love is Blind.

The Red Flags Podcast: THE American Formula One podcast. Best friends that grew up in New York City channel their inner sports radio hosts. They are hilarious and bring a fresh perspective to an “old money” sport with weekly race recaps that rank the “hottest moment of the day” and “F, Marry, Kill” the podium. If you love drive to survive and now follow F1, you must follow them.

CultPodcast: Two comedians do extensive researched presented in a new fun way. They get off track into fun tangents like “people who have claimed to be Jesus”. Sometimes dark and technically “true crime,” cult podcast shows how any one can get sucked into a cult and cult like thinking.

Web Crawlers: Started as a wacky true crime podcast, covering things like fast food scandals, they now do weekly “Bimbo News” covering all the wacky things in the news and pop culture from the week, asking the questions we’re all thinking.

Maintenance Phase: I always feel smarter yet slightly skeptical about what food packaging is telling me after I listen to them. They debunk unfounded fad diets, the iffy science behind common nutrition trends, and the shocking “morality” or immorality behind a lot of these trends.

Celebrity Memoir Book Club: I feel like Clair and Ashely are my best friends. Every week they “read the book so you don’t have to”. Covering books hot off the presses and digging deep into the archives they cover every celebrity memoir on the spectrum, from the perspective of two stand up comedians. BONUS! I subscribe to their patreon for weekly (1-2hour) episodes that cover everything from pop culture, movies they watched so we don’t have to, funny things that have happened in their lives, dating, dogs, travel, being married, overconsumption/spending habits, and interesting articles about the state of media and culture. They are a must listen
